To provide access to original art for people of modest means, I donate work to charities to sell in their resale shops. My series Donated chronicles this art that I hope will grace the walls of the everyday person and bring them joy.
SEE ME is a work that was inspired by my exasperation, as a self-taught artist, with navigating the art field, especially since my approach and choice of materials is so unconventional. Paint saturated fabric was applied to a piece of styrofoam, 42 by 48 inches. Found objects like string and rope were added for dimensionality. As can be noted in the close-up below, tiny doll heads struggle for visibility amongst the disarray.
There are many people today who, for whatever reason, feel they are not viewed for who they truly are. May one of them embrace this piece and realize that they are in fact, seen and appreciated.
